Data backups
How to secure your files
- Secure your files before dismantling your old PC ( on a network drive or an external storage medium, for example). Important: You must 'Copy' the files, not 'Move' them.
- Look over the secured data to make sure they are complete and legible.
- Store the data on the new device. Then look them over to make sure they are complete and legible. Test to see whether you can open the files on your new PC.
Please be sure to include all user-specific data in the backup!
PC, please make sure they cannot be directly taken over onto the new device. A new installation will be necessary, for which you’ll need the original data storage devices and any necessary serial numbers.

background information on data backup
Please note that only files stored on the file server's network drives are backed up. These are generally the "H:" and "I:" drives. You are responsible for backing up the local hard drives, usually the "C:" and "D:" drives. The backup starts daily at 10:00 PM and backs up the version of a file stored on the file server at the time of the backup. Please note that documents currently being processed cannot be backed up.
Backup Strategy
On all calendar days (including Sundays and holidays), files modified or newly created on the servers since the previous day are backed up to a disk system (backup to disk). Deleted files are retained on this disk system for 60 days. On the 1st of each month, the so-called monthly backup is performed in the form of a full backup to tape. The tapes of a monthly backup are retained for 12 months and then reused.
