Big data storage
While innovating the storage and virtualisation farm, it is possible to cover needs for larger storage platforms (Big data storage) in an economical manner. The essential difference to normal network drives is that no data backup is made on tape, but the current data inventory is replicated every five minutes on a second hard drive storage in another building (Snapshots). Hourly Snapshots are kept for 60 days.
The critical components of every big data storage system are redundantly configured, providing a high degree of safeguarding against failure. Big data storage is intended for data with a normal need for protection.
Big data storage is set up on the new file servers (WINFS1 or WINFS2). Users who have already migrated to the AD domain (along with their data) will find the storage area as an additional folder in the I: drive. All other users must set up drive mapping manually.
The appropriate information about the path of the share will go to the customer when the big data storage is set up.
Big data storage can also be accessed externally through the Filr service.

You apply for big data storage by sending a support request to ZIMSupport.
That request must contain the storage space needed and a justification. No matter whether the area is to be shared with the employee only or for the employee’s IdM group (normally the latter).
